Winter at Faaker See

Winter is especially nice here at Lake Faaker See. Weeks of fine weather in the high winter and some strong Adriatic low with cold air from the north bring us a winter wonderland as in a picture book. Most of the many smaller lakes freeze before Christmas and invite you to ice skating and ice surfing with the most delicious ice cream.

The cross-country ski trails are groomed during the Christmas season. As soon as snow conditions permit, with the help of countless snow cannons, the ski opening on the Gerlitzen (18 km) and the Dreiländerecke (20 km) will be celebrated at the beginning of December.

Our adventure hotel is regularly open for you from 25. 12. to 9. 1. each year. It is not only an ideal winter hotel for skiers and all other snow-hungry guests, it is also the ideal time-out after a hectic and restless pre-Christmas season. With the central location to the winter destinations and the 400m² wellness area in the hotel, you will find the perfect setting for your perfect, active and relaxing winter holiday.

The inversion weather situation in the Villach Basin often brings us high fog in the valleys and radiant sun on the Gerlitzen. The excellent thermals offer ideal conditions for paragliders.

The children's ski school on the Gerlitzen or the Dreiländereck will playfully bring skiing to the little ones.

Advent and Christmas markets in Villach or Velden conjure up a Christmas atmosphere, hot mulled wine and home-baked cookies make the cheeks turn red. Crunching snow under the boots reminds of the kids time, take time to gather, to recharge your batteries and to enjoy the nature.
